The study shows that even small levels of physical activity resulted in significant health benefits. For example, men who cycled to work were eleven pounds lighter than those who always commuted via conventional driving. Women were also just over nine pounds lighter when they cycled to work. Researchers discovered that the more consistently a person cycled or walked, the lower their percentage of body fat would be.
Obviously, not everyone has the luxury of being able to cycle to work, but even incidental physical activity yielded positive effects. Whether you decide to take it up for recreational purposes, for sport, or to commute to work, cycling provides tremendous health benefits.
